A few pics from last week showing the never ending battle against coastal erosion, these guys are shifting 120,000 tons of shingle from the Sandgate end of the beach at Hythe to the Fishermans Beach about 2 miles away. The shingle there is 1.5 meters lower than it should be due to Longshore Drift. They are working 5 days a week for about 6 weeks and I believe this happens twice a year.
